Housing Action Plan

Public Participation Goals
- Provide the city and interested parties with timely information, an understanding of the process, and multiple opportunities to participate.
- Actively seek information from stakeholder groups to gather input from housing advocates, housing providers, and social service organizations about their concerns, questions, and priorities. (A detailed list of potential stakeholder groups is listed below).
Public Participation Opportunities
Community Interviews
Timeframe: September - November
SCJ will conduct informational interviews with individual stakeholders and/or groups. The interviews will be used as mini surveys guided by specific stakeholder group’s needs, issues, opportunities, and guided by what are the greatest housing needs in Yelm. Interviews will be conducted in person. This will also help us establish community champions to lead or assist in reaching and engaging community residents at large and for future implementation of the HAP.
Planning Commission & City Council
Timeframe: Duration of Project
Workshops and hearings of the Planning Commission and City Council are essential to this process. We will conduct two workshops for each body to present findings from earlier work. The workshops scheduled so far include:
