2018 Budget
On Tuesday, October 3rd, at a public meeting, Mayor JW Foster shared his proposed budget for 2018. Next, the City Council will continue to meet every Tuesday this month to review and discuss details, consider changes, and adopt the final City budget for 2018.

This budget document is in an entirely new format with more narrative, context, definition and details. We've worked hard to make it easier for everyone to access, understand and provide input. The Mayor's budget advances the city's focus on increasing public safety, creating a best run government, and supporting businesses to continue growing our economy. Highlights include: hiring two more police officers, adding a development review engineer to streamline business and construction permits, building new sidewalks to keep kids safe, and investing more resources to care for our parks and aging infrastructure. The budget also funds reserve accounts that were recently developed by Mayor Foster and the Finance Committee to more transparently account for funds, save for a 'rainy day,' and replace necessary equipment (like 7 new police cars in 2018) to better serve our citizens.

Mayor JW Foster's proposed budget is balanced, increases services to the public, and is sustainable with the first multi-year budget forecast to foster long-term planning. The documents given to Council are available online through the city webpage and on the link below. Everyone is encouraged to attend and provide comments at every City Council meeting on Tuesdays at 6:00 PM in the Public Safety Building, especially when the Council holds hearings on October 10th and 24th to accept official public comment.
